Potato Dextrose Agar
Potato Dextrose Agar is a solid medium recommended for the general-purpose cultivation and isolation of yeasts and molds from foods, dairy and cosmetics.
Potato Dextrose Agar meets United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP)1-3 performance specifications, where applicable.
Principles: The nutritionally rich base provided by Potato Infusion and Dextrose encourages mold sporulation and pigment production in some fungi. Lowering the pH to 3.5 ± 0.1 with the addition of Tartaric Acid inhibits bacterial growth and aids in the isolation of fungi. Please note reheating the acidified medium will hydrolyze the gelifying agent Agar.
